Utsav Lal's Ragas to Reels is the acclaimed Indo-Irish project of Indian pianist and composer Utsav Lal, internationally recognised for reimagining Hindustani classical music on the piano while forging compelling musical dialogues across traditions. Joining him are two of Ireland's foremost traditional musicians-legendary fiddler Cleek Schrey and acclaimed flautist and saxophonist Sam Comerford, alongside tabla virtuoso Zuheb Ahmed Khan.

As part of Utsav Lal’s Ragas to Reels India Tour 2026, the ensemble performs in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru, supported by Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi with the tour serving as a flagship cultural showcase celebrating Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Over the past decade, Lal has presented evolving editions of Ragas to Reels across Ireland, the UK, India and the USA, with performances at leading venues including Southbank Centre (London), Lyric Theatre (Belfast), Irish Arts Center (New York) and The Barns at Wolf Trap (Washington, DC).

Ragas to Reels is a unique musical collaboration that explores the creative dialogue between Indian classical music and Irish traditional music. Drawing from historical and imagined connections between Irish and Hindustani musical traditions, Utsav Lal’s Ragas to Reels conjures a rich sonic landscape where Sean-nós airs dissolve into alap, harp songs converse with thumri and chhands, and reels and jigs ignite into tarana and jhala. Featuring traditional repertoire alongside original compositions, the music is at once virtuosic, spontaneous and deeply moving- a thrilling celebration of two ancient traditions reimagined for the global stage.
