Often described as “Ambassadors of Italian music around the world” or as an example of “Italian Excellence,” Mezzotono is the vocal group that has performed in more countries than any other vocal ensemble in the world, with tours spanning over 70 nations across five continents (first time in India). Their performances —an engaging mix of Italian culture, humor, and a cappella music— are often accompanied by workshops in schools of every level.
Five singers use only their voices to create a true sonic universe. They reinterpret Italian music (and in more languages too) in all its forms —from jazz to pop, from classical music to folk traditions, from Buonasera Signorina to Ennio Morricone, from Sergio Endrigo to Bach, from Tarantella to Cime di Rape —with irony, theatricality, vocal imitation of instruments, and an ability to engage audiences of any age, background, or language. The result is a performance that feels like a full orchestra on stage.
Among their most notable performances: Dubai Jazz Festival, Cairo Opera House, London Jazz Festival, Boston Green Festival, tours in China, Japan, Korea, several Arab countries, Argentina, and festivals in 12 African nations. In 2020, they were selected by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to represent Italian culture worldwide, alongside artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Paolo Conte, Noa, and Gilberto Gil. Their many awards include a CARA nomination (the “Oscars” of vocal music), the Akademia Award Los Angeles, and participation in a Gold-certified album in Italy.
