Anna Erhard, the Swiss-born, Berlin-based singer, released her third album Botanical Garden in September 2024, along with the video for its focus track Hot Family. The record sharpened her knack for playful but understated storytelling, zooming in on life’s tiny details and twisting them into sharp, funny, and sometimes quietly moving songs. Tracks like Hot Family tackle existential questions with humor, Not Rick wanders down philosophical rabbit holes, and Spa stages a small rebellion against social etiquette.
Influenced by The Roches, Jonathan Richman, and a streak of British comedy, Erhard has carved out a voice that’s witty, observant, and never heavy-handed. Across her three solo albums-her 2019 debut, Short Cut (2021), Campsite (2022), and now Botanical Garden—she’s built a world of slick arrangements, propulsive percussion, and writing that finds depth in everyday minutiae.
The making of Botanical Garden was a communal effort with friends, and its release led into a wide-ranging UK and EU tour through late 2024. With each project, Erhard keeps expanding her reach while staying true to her playful, off-kilter take on modern life and the endless search for happiness.
