The Karan Mahajan Band is a project led by guitarist and composer Karan Mahajan. Since its birth in 2019, the band has played numerous shows in the local and national circuits.

With an ever-growing repertoire of original compositions and covers, the Karan Mahajan Band transcends the boundaries of conventional genres and traditional labels.

The group’s influences include artists such as Son House, BB King, Derek Trucks, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ali Akbar Khan, among many others.

In 2023, the band won Mahindra Blues’ nationwide ‘Big Blues Band Hunt’ competition and was offered the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Mahindra Blues Festival alongside some of Karan’s heroes such as Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal. The band’s performance and competition win were featured in popular media such as TOI, The Wire and more.

In this day and age of widespread commercialism and processed music, the band chooses to focus instead on live performance, songwriting and extended improvisation.
