BLU is a blues band based out of New Delhi though all members of the group are from Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kohima. The band was formed in 2015 by Guitarist Pranai Gurung and Vocalist Kapil Chetri. They primarily play Country/Delta Blues and reworked Standard Blues. 

Guitarist Kapil Chetri is credited to be one of the first sounds in India who deals primarily with Delta Blues and other finger style-plucking, acoustic blues styles. 

Kapil brings in the raw Mississippi sound to the group. Pranai has been writing and collaborating with various musicians for over 15 years – Drift the trio, Silk Route, Bipul Chettri, BollyJazz, Crossover Jazz collective.  Rahul Rai on electric bass is an active session musician with Mohit Chauhan, Bipul Chetri, Sushmit Sen to name a few. Chewang lama on Drums is also an active session musician who teaches at the Delhi School of Music.

The band writes and performs their own music and plans to record their first album in 2017. The band has been regularly featured at Piano Man Jazz Club, Bandstand, Depot 29, Bflat Bar. They recently won the coveted Mahindra Blues Band hunt and were featured at the prestigious Mahindra Blues Festival 2017 in Mumbai.
