The Piano Man Newsletter 31st December 2015

Posted by Arjun Sagar Gupta, on 01 January 2016

    Ladies and gentlemen,

The end of the year is when we all sit back and look at the year has passed us by and plan for the year ahead. We celebrate our victories and resolve to fortify our weaknesses.

I have had the unique opportunity to review the last quarter of my year in a weekly concise email. This email. Following the words of a woman wiser than I (which probably covers all the women I know), who once told me to "omit needless words", I try to convey a myriad of emotions in a paragraph. Like the tiny ant, these metered words need to carry a bigger burden than it seems they can.

Today I have taken the liberty to digress. To those who have always taught us to avoid excesses, I found there is immense pleasure in avoiding excessive avoidance of excesses.

The Piano Man is an evolving idea. What you see today is after 5 years of evolution. Slow, I know, I'm in no hurry. I've finally arrived at the Base Camp of the Everest in my imagination. The dreams are big, everybody's are. I have the habit of cataloguing my dreams in order of what I imagine to be achievable time frames. Nothing is impossible, some things just take a little longer than ones lifespan, but that's no reason not to start working on them.

Our current objective is to have a couple of people walk out every night, that understand why we asked them to keep quiet and focus on the music. Respect for the musicians is just a part of it, the other is that we've lost the ability to appreciate something real, to use our senses which have been desensitised by a never ending barrage of factory bred information. And of course, because we just want to listen to some fabulous music by some fabulous people.

All ideas are seeds; please help me nurture this one.

Enough preachy nonsense, my apologies, I'm slightly long winded :). 2016 will be big for us, even if we manage to execute none of the ideas that I have planned for it, it will be incredible thanks to the 250 odd nights of magic that incredible artists will weave in a tiny space on a tiny stage for a tiny crowd of amazing people.

But the things we have planned are big, because they are ideas. And I really, really hope to share them with you.

We have a fun night planned for the 31st, yes we sold out a little and went with a cover charge, but it is more in the interest of smoother service, we promise. Come unwind with us with excellent music, food and alcohol.

We are now on the lookout for like-minded people who would like to support us, artists, the music scene etc. If you are interested, give us a holler.

Much love for the amazing year you have ahead of you, do drop in to say hi, have a drink, listen to a tune.

    Sincerely
    Arjun
